Forest farming is the cultivation of under story crops, such as medicinal herbs and mushrooms, as well as shade-loving native ornamentals, moss, fruit, nuts, other food crops, and decorative craft materials within an established forest, be it a natural forest or a timber planting. Forest farming can be a sustainable production system that can provide supplemental income to a family or company while helping keep a forest healthy by introducing more variety in the plant life.
