Collapse ▲The NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ (NCDA&CS) Pesticide Disposal Assistance Program, a non-regulatory and cost-free program provides assistance to farmers and homeowners. The goal of the Pesticide Disposal Assistance Program is to assist the citizens of North Carolina by managing and supervising the safe collection and lawful disposal of banned, out-dated, or unwanted pesticides. The NCDA&CS, in cooperation with the Jackson County Cooperative Extension Service, will be sponsoring a Pesticide Collection Day.
WHEN: Wednesday, November 5th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
WHERE: In the gravel lot next to the Skyland Services Center – 876 Skyland Dr, Sylva, NC 28779.
WHAT: They will take insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, algaecides, miticides and
rodenticides. Not paint, paint thinners, glues, fuel, or other hazardous chemicals.
Participants are asked to save any portion of the label to help identify the material to be disposed of. Unknown materials cannot be accepted.
The event is held in alternate years between here and Swain County – although residents of both can go to either.
