Yadkin County 4-H Families and Friends,

It is with an extremely heavy heart that I am having to share this information with you all. As per the request from NC State University and NC State Extension, all summer programming has been moved to online programs. Overnight camps have been canceled completely.

Late Friday afternoon, we received final guidance from NC State University regarding summer 4-H programs. While the message specifically mentions camps, it refers to all K-12 face-to-face events and activities conducted by NC State University employees and representatives. This impacts residential camps held at our three 4-H camps/centers, events held on the NC State campus, and all face-to-face programs conducted in the counties until NC State Extension lifts restrictions on Extension programming.

4-H State Staff are heading up an effort to provide a virtual option for District Activity Day and State 4-H Presentation Finals, as well as virtual options for NC 4-H Congress and North Carolina Citizenship Focus. The camp leadership team will also be looking at ways to provide virtual opportunities at our camps.

Although we cannot meet in person, Madaline Jones, your 4-H agent, and other N.C. Cooperative Extension of Yadkin County staff, are planning to provide virtual learning opportunities for youth during the summer. As they plan and gain more information about the new Yadkin County 4-H Summer Fun Program, Madaline will keep you informed. Please note that even though these learning opportunities are going to be online, each youth is required to have a 4-H Online account. Madaline is happy to help you with this process. 4-H Online can be accessed through this link: 4HOnline

We are all disappointed that we must take these actions, but this is the responsible thing to do. Our greatest concern is for your safety. Please take all appropriate measures to protect yourself COVID-19.

Please keep up with NC State COVID-19 related updates and information at the NC State University Coronavirus Response website.

Keep up with us on Yadkin County 4-H’s Facebook page.
