Collapse ▲Does your horse need a current coggins test for Equine Infectious Anemia? We have the answer for you. Come on out March 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to the Mountain Folk Center/Cherokee County Fairgrounds, in Murphy, NC and get a coggins test done with quick turn around on test results. We will have e-coggins available by 8 p.m. for you as well this year. Dr. Beverly Hargus, from Animals-R-Us, will be the veterinarian providing the shots and test. Major shots like East-West Tetanus, Rabies, Rhino Flu, and West Nile will also be available. Does your horse need its teeth floated? This can be done on-site this very day.
You do not have to live in North Carolina to bring your horse. If you just want to come out and learn more, it is free to come out and watch.
The following are the prices for some of the services that the vet will offer:
- Coggins (on-site results with e-coggins): $20
- Rabies: $10
- East-West Tetanus: $15
- Rhino Flu: $25
- West Nile: $25
- Strangles: $30
- Potomac Horse Fever: $25
- Coggins and Full Round of Vaccines $95
Other services will be available like teeth floating.

The Mountain Folk Center, also known as the Cherokee County Fairgrounds, is located in Cherokee County, in the Ranger Community. From Murphy, take US-19 S/US-74 W/US-129 S for 9 miles, starting at the red light at the McDonalds intersection. Continue to follow US-74 W go across the media crossing making a u-turn onto US-64 E/US-74E. The Mountain Folk Center will be on your right.
