Fruit Tree Workshop – Managing Your Home Orchard
The N.C. Cooperative Extension Service will be holding a Fruit Tree Workshop that will cover the basic cultural needs of apple, pear, peach, and other fruit trees. Topics covered include site selection, the differences between dwarf, semi-dwarf, and seedling trees, proper soil conditions, pollination requirements, differences in cultivars, chilling requirements, fertility needs, tree spacing, and general pruning principles. In addition, we will discuss the most common disease and insects problems and possible control options. For more information or to register for these free classes contact your local N.C. - Thursday, March 28, 2019, at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Jackson County Center 876 Skyland Dr. Sylva, N.C. in the conference room from 6–8 p.m.
